Over the last few years the availability of Education Loans to fund Overseas Education has definitely increased and about 75% of all students going overseas for studies do avail such loans. Loans up to Rs. 4 Lakh (could increase to 7.5 Lakh soon) are normally sanctioned quite easily while most Indian banks do give loans up to Rs. 20 Lakhs with some collateral security.
Students going overseas to study from India should take the forex under the Higher Studies Quota as approved by RBI. All banks can issue forex under the quota. The other moneychangers usually issue forex under the basic travel quota.
